Social Network for Quilters at MyQuiltPlace.com

If you’re looking for a place to meet quilters online and share your passion for quilting, then you’ve got to check out http://myquiltplace.com. This site is an online community provided by AQS. Truly a social network for quilters, it offers several ways to really participate and connect with other quilters.

Quilter’s Profile

When you sign up for an account, you will be given a profile area. Here you can fill in all of the information you would like to share about yourself, including your photo. Not only can you provide your profile, but you can cruise through and view profiles of other quilters. Currently there are almost 3,000 quilters on the site sharing their quilting experiences.

The Gallery

This is one of my favorite features. Quilters can post photos of quilts they’ve created, and you can view all of them. There looks to be at last 1,000 images of wonderful quilts to peruse for your own enjoyment and inspiration!

The Groups

Groups is where it gets really interesting! Over 40 groups have formed around different niche topics in quilting. There are groups for quilters interested in whole cloth quilts, applique’, foundation piecing, to name a few. There are even groups for younger women, Etsy sellers, and quilt history. If you don’t find what you’re interested in, you can start a group and new members can join. This is an excellent way to interact with quilters who are excited about the same aspects of quilting that interest you.

The Events

Another jackpot is the Events section. This page gives information on upcoming quilt shows all over the world. As a member, you can add any quilt shows in your area. Also listed are workshops and retreats. Watching this section, you will be able to find out about shows in your area, or vacation spots you may be visiting soon.

The Forums

No community would be complete without an area to share ideas an questions, or just visit with fellow quilters. In the forum, you will find conversations about anything from tips on marking pens to quilters sharing free patterns, and much more.

The Blogs

If you’ve ever thought about writing a blog, but didn’t know where to start, here is the place for you. Every member can start a blog and share photos and experiences with quilting or anything of interest. This is your place to truly express yourself in writing. You can use it as a personal journal, an area to share new projects or teach techniques you’ve perfected. The blogs are easy to set up and easy to use.

The Videos

This is a section of the site that is up and coming. A small collection of videos have been uploaded from different members. Some videos spotlight quilt artists and contest winners. I suspect that as quilter become comfortable with video, we will see a lot more great videos from quilters sharing projects, or shows they’ve been to, or guild activities. They sky’s the limit!

In addition to these areas, every member has an inbox where you can communicate directly. If you’ve been looking for a place for inspiration and connection, The Quilt Place online community has a treasure trove of possibilities to offer you.
