International Quilters coming to Grand Rapids Quilt Show

Have you ever wondered how quilting translates to other countries?   Are you curious to meet quilters from other places on the globe who love quilting as much as you do?

You will get your chance at the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show in Grand Rapids, Michigan this August.  Bonnie Browning of AQS is collaborating with quilters from Egypt to bring us quilts made by Egyptian quilters,

This video shows you some amazing quilts by these quilters, known as the Tentmakers of Cairo. Two of the quilters will be here in Grand Rapids during the show.  I cannot wait to ask them more questions about the history behind these amazing designs that they are recreating in quilts.

For the full details, visit the Quilt Views and News blog at AQS.

If you would like to find out the latest news about the show as it happens, join our email list.  I don’t want you to miss a thing!

Grand Rapids offers many places to eat within a short walking distance of the DeVos Center, where the AQS Quilt Show will take place in August.

Every quilter has to eat and there are some great restaurants available for you.  I hope to bring you more specific information on restaurants.  But until then, here is a map you can print and bring with you to the show.  It will show you all of your dining options during the show!

Webcast of Presentations at the Live Quilt Show

American Quilt Society is offering Webcasts for quilters who cannot attend the Paducah Quilt show this month.  I’ve signed up for one and am excited to see how it works out.  I was looking for a sample webcast to see what it looked like, but didn’t find one on the AQS website.  Once I’ve attended my Webcast, I will let you know how it goes!  And how cool is it that, once the event is over, you still can view the webcast for 90 days!  That way, if I can’t attend at the actual time of the event, I can watch it any time that is convenient for me.  How cool is that!
